Choosing an aircraft starts with the flying you intend to do. Use this checklist to prepare your questions before arranging a viewing.
Define your requirements
Consider passenger numbers, typical routes, runway access, payload, storage and the operating costs you can support. Tell us whether the aircraft is for private flying, training or an operational requirement, and whether you have a preferred type or timescale.
Read the listing and ask for records
Review the registration, year, airframe hours, engine and propeller information, avionics and stated location. Ask which figures are current and what records are available. Hours and maintenance information can change while an aircraft remains in use.
Request a viewing
Use the enquiry button on an aircraft listing to request information, a viewing, a demo flight or a pre-buy inspection. The aircraft and request type are included with your enquiry. These are requests for confirmation, not confirmed appointments.
Arrange the appropriate inspection
Discuss the scope of a pre-buy inspection with a suitably qualified independent specialist. Agree access, costs and the records to review before making arrangements. A sales description is a starting point for your assessment, not a substitute for inspecting the aircraft and its documentation.
Confirm the commercial details
Ask for written confirmation of the price, any VAT wording, what is included and the proposed handover arrangements. For an overseas purchase, establish the applicable export, import and registration requirements with the relevant specialists before committing.
What happens after I enquire?
Your enquiry goes to CG Aviation and you receive an email acknowledgement. Our team responds to discuss your requirements and confirm the next step. Email enquiries are handled seven days a week; telephone enquiries are handled during UK business hours, Monday to Friday.
Can I enquire without choosing an aircraft?
Yes. Tell us the type of aircraft, intended use, budget range and timing you have in mind so we can discuss your requirements.
